QCMs and Control Charts:
Quality Control Materials – QCMs are a valuable tool for internal Quality Control that can be used for building and maintenance of Analytical Quality Control Charts, which are based on statistical concepts and allow to monitor trends and stability of the analytical process therefore allowing long term reproducibility of analytical procudeure. For these reasons Analytical Quality Control Charts are strongly recommended by ISO/IEC 17025, whenever practicable.
Control charts should be prepared and maintained through the periodic analyses of adequate control samples that are characterized by high homogeneity of analytes and that should be as far as possible similar to the samples routinely analysed by the laboratories. QCMs analysed within the PTs organized by Quality Consult represent an optimal choice as control samples for analytical control charts, as they combine the possibility to use a well defined material in terms of homogeneity, stability and indicative value (consensus value from PTs) of analytes together with a lower cost than CRMs.
Quality Consult offers a consultancy service on the maintenance of Analytical Quality Control Charts. The cost of the service includes:
- 1 or 2 bottles of reference material - QCM
- QCM characterization report (including homogeneity and stability of analytes and consensus values from PT participants)
- guidelines and electronic format for control charts building and maintenance
- three months consultancy on specific problems arising in the control chart maintenance
The consultancy service is available for the determination of trace elements and organic compounds in environmental matrices (soil, sediment, sludge), the already available list of items and prices is specified in the following table (more details on analytes by clicking on the code)
