Saumel Perez Santana took his degree in Biochemistry at the University of Havana, Cuba on July 2000.

Since then, he developed his professional experience in the field of Quality control/Quality assurance of analytical measurements, with particular regard to the topics of laboratory accreditation for environmental measurements, organization and management of proficiency testing schemes.

He worked for 5 years in a public environmental laboratory in Cuba, as responsible chemist, in the field of environmental analysis and quality assurance. He has gained deep experience in the development, optimization and validation of analytical methods for the speciation of arsenic compounds in environmental matrices as a foreigner fellowship in ENEA, the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Environment.

In his research activities he concentrated on method development, optimization and validation, for the spectroscopic analysis of trace elements in environmental and biological matrices and on the implementation of quality control tools.

In his activities for Quality Consult, he has participated in the organization, data treatment and evaluation, of the QC proficiency testing schemes since 2006. Moreover, he has been involved in a series of EC-funded projects, as Quality Consult consultant, such as TAQC-WFD, TBT-Impacts, SWIFT-WFD and PHARE Romania.

Since 2009, he is responsible for the Quality Consult (QC) PT schemes.
